Poster Artist, Alan Hynes on Pirate Cat Radio!

Local poster artist, Alan Hynes will be on my radio show this Tuesday, July 29th at 4PM (PST) Listen online at PIRATE CAT RADIO or 87.9FM in San Francisco / Los Angeles and 104.8FM in Berlin, Germany. Irish born, Alan Hynes has been in the poster art world for the past decade. He’s done work for record labels, skateboard companies and his poster art covers all kinds of music: Metal, Rock, Punk, Folk and whatever else he enjoys listening to. I’m doing a series of interviews with poster artists for BURN MY EYES III show here in San Francisco. BURN MY EYES III artists include: John Seabury, Alan Forbes, Alan Hynes, Lil Tuffy, David D'Andrea, Wendy Wright, Stainboy, Paul Imagine, Steve Walters (Screwball Press) and more! The whole show was put together by Justin McNeal and will be held at Bottom of the Hill Saturday, August 16^th from 3to7PM and yours truly will be spinning records. Ok everybody, I’m outta here. No radio show on Thursday because I’m heading to Seattle, WA for the 2008 CAPITOL HILL BLOCK PARTY! CAPITAL HILL BLOCK PARTY/ZEKE INTERVIEW/MELVINS/PIRATE CAT/PODCAST/PLAYLISTS/TOP 10

This summer so far has been great for me in San Francisco. I have a new radio show in the city (and the other one), the weather has been killer and finally, I’m taking my first summer trip. Next weekend, I’ll be in Seattle for the CAPITAL HILL BLOCK PARTY! I’ll be arriving Thursday afternoon and the drinking begins immediately I get off the plane. I’ll be hanging with my buddy, Chris Roxxx and his girl for the whole weekend and can’t wait too see some other friends of mine. Here’s a list of bands I want too see: Black Eyes and Neckties , Pleasureboaters, The Heavy Hearts, Lesbian, Black Elk, Akimbo, The Whoremoans, Les Savy Fav, Mika Miko, Jay Retard and most of all, ZEKE (I haven’t seen these guys since they opened up for MOTORHEAD in SF a few years back). Oh yeah, many more bands and more people too see (Zero Down, Julianne).

Just got an interview confirmed a few minutes ago. Donny Paycheck of ZEKE will be calling my radio show next Tuesday, July 22^nd at 5PM (PST). ZEKE has been one of my ALL TIME favorite bands and glad to have them back on the airwaves. Be sure to listen in and find out the happenings in the world of ZEKE! FUCK YEAH!

Oh yeah, next Tuesday on Pirate Cat Radio, I’ll be spinning a set of the bands jamming at this year’s Capitol Hill Block Party. MODEY LEMON/TIDAL WAVE 11/TOTIMOSHI/PLAYLIST/TOP 10

HAPPY 4^TH OF JULY! Yeah yeah yeah, I know not yet but, I’m already getting into it. This 4^th weekend is going to be one of my best 4^th’s in a while. Let me tell you why. Friday night at The Hemlock Tavern in the lovely District of the Tenderloin, MODEY LEMON out of Pittsburg, PA will be bringing the fuzz out, garage out ROCKNROLL to San Francisco. Their new album “Season of Sweets” just came out on Birdman Records so, I advise you to go out and get it. The other bands on the bill are label mates and SF locals, LULU AND THE GUITARFISH and from Oakland, FAUNA VALETTA. Come out and ROCKNROLL Your way on the 4^th!

This Saturday, July 5^th and Sunday, July 6th we are getting our own Metal Festival here in San Francisco. TIDAL WAVE 11 is a FREE two day event at John McLaren Park. YES, FREE! No two day passes or anything. Just simply FREE! The two day event consists of the following bands in no particular order: Exodus, Hirax, Attitude Adjustment, Psychosomatic, Zombie Holocaust, Ludicra, Saros, Fog Of War, Agenda of Swine and more. . . This is the festival of the summer here in the Bay Area. F*** THE REST!

Tuesday from 4TO6PM (PST) on my other radio show, I’m going to have a good friend of mine in studio because they’re having a CD release party at 12 Galaxies in The Mission District. My friend Tony of TOTIMOSHI will do his first solo acoustic set on my radio show. That’s right, acoustic set next Tuesday, July 8^th sometime between 4 and 6PM (PST). You can listen in at 87.9FM in the whole Bay Area or online at WWW.PIRATECATRADIO.COM. A few hours later, Tony will connect with his band at 12 Galaxies and play with some good friends of theirs, BIG BUSINESS and TRICLOPS. Oh yeah, what a release party it will be.
