ITALY/MENDOZZA/THE JACK SAINTS/JEWDRIVER/PLAYLIST/TOP 10

I’m so glad I’ll be chilling this weekend. I’ve been on a roll as of seeing bands in the past month or so. I’ve probably seen near 40-50 bands in the last two months or so. Anyway, some friends of mine from Milan, Italy are in San Francisco so I’m going to be “the guide” for them which I don’t mind because I love San Francisco. I’m hoping to take them to the MENDOZZA and BLACK COBRA show at Annie’s Social Club this Thursday. My friends love METAL and ROCKNROLL!

Another show I’ll be taking them to at Annie’s Social Club will be the following day Friday, April 25^th. THE JACK SAINTS and JEWDRIVER! YES, the return of The Jack Saints. These guys have been in a long hibernation state, the snow has melted from Northern California and these guys are ready to bring it. They have a new drummer and I heard they are going to do nothing but new songs. I need to go through all my JS albums and do some catching up but, I still remember a few. Make sure to watch out for flying chairs or anything else because it’s going to be one of those shows. The other band is JEWDRIVER and all I know about these guys is they’re Jews, play Punk Rock and do Screwdriver songs but, adds a little Jew flavor to it. It going to be a crazy show so make sure to do your push-up and sit-ups for it. See you there.

After our new board has been placed into the studio we still can’t record our shows but don’t worry, you can still listen to my old podcasts at the links to the right of you. BLACKLISTED/THE MARKED MEN/EXTREME NOISE TERROR/THE ESTRANGED/MENDOZZA

I CAN NOT SLEEP FOR SOME REASON! Sorry for screaming but, I haven’t slept well since last Thursday. I’m enjoying my life right now and I don’t really have any huge problems or drama in my life. I have sleeping pills but, I don’t want to use them yet. Maybe I should and get some good sleep. Anyway, I’m going to have another seven days of sleepless nights because the Bay Area is getting hit with so many good shows and I think I’m going to tape my eyelids and might as well stay up. Well OK, let’s get things rollin’. . .

First off, on my radio show this Thursday at 4PM I will have BLACKLISTED calling in. BLACKLISTED is a different kind of Hardcore band because of their energy, brutal riffs and vocals that they bring to the new album and/or the stage. The band is on Deathwish Inc. Records and the new album, "Heavier Than Heaven, Lonelier Than God” was engineered by none other than Kurt Ballou (Converge). These kids will be performing at 924 Gilman in Berkeley this Sunday, April 20^th at 5PM. Also on the bill is Killing The Dream and Have Heart. Get the new album and I swear you won’t stop listening to it.

This Friday, April 18^th at my favorite bar Thee Parkside, will have a great line-up. These bands are so different from one another that you’re not going to know what to do. THE MARKED MEN (Denton, TX), TRICLOPS (SF), TULSA (?), and TOYS THAT KILL (L.A.). I’m glad that Toys That Kill is here and it’ll be my second time seeing them. Last time I saw them they opened up for the DWARVES during the weekend of the L.A. Shakedown. Remember that that crap?! Anyway, come on out and enjoy some Punk Rock at Thee Parkside.

Saturday, April 19^th will be one of the best of 2008 San Francisco Metal shows at Annie’s Social Club. EXTREME NOISE TERROR (U.K.), STRONG INTENTIONS (Columbia, Maryland), TRAP THEM (New Hampshire / Seattle), VERLATEN (ex-Plutocracy / Dead-Bodies-Everywhere), AGENDA OF SWINE (ex-Benumb / Vulgar Pigeons) and SELF INFLICTED. I’m looking forward seeing this show. It’s like a heavyweight fight of metal bands all on one bill but, it’s not at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Also, the show is an Alcoholocaust & Self Inflicted Presents and they are letting me pass out a pair of tickets for the show. Thanks guys.

Oh yeah, the weekend goes into the following week with another Alcoholocaust Presents show. This time, remember the days of WIRE, THE WIPERS, JOY DIVISION and many others that took music to another level? Of course you do. Well, Monday, April 21^st at Thee Parkside is having one of those shows. THE ESTRANGED (Portland, OR), SPECTRES (Vancouver, British Columbia Canada) and N.N. (?). Come out and check out some Post-Punk at its best.

Last but not least, we have a Metal show on Tuesday, April 22nd at Thee Parkside (I love this place) and I can proudly say I love this band as well. MENDOZZA from Vancouver, BC Canada will be blasting their speakers through the roof along with GOLERS also from Vancouver, BC Canada. MENDOZZA has been sending music to me for the past few years and it’s incredible that I’ve never seen them before; I’m expecting a total Thrash Attack from them. Somewhere I saw that they sound like Entombed dating the Melvins while making out to old Metallica. I think that says it all. They’re also playing in San Francisco at Annie’s Social Club a few days later with TODAY IS THE DAY. So no excuses to come out and support some kick ass metal from Canada.

THE GENERATORS/MIDNIGHT BOMBERS/CRIMINAL DAMAGE/TOP 10/PODCAST

By the time your reading this I would’ve already saw the stupid Olympic Torch go by near my house. I planned to get out of work early, ride my bike to the torch run, have a few hot dogs with a Coke and see me some riots. Earlier this week three people climbed the Golden Gate Bridge and hung two banners off of it protesting the Olympic Torch coming here because of Tibet. Being a Texan and not seeing too much protests growing up, it’s pretty good seeing this and how people of all kinds could get together and believe in one thing. I love this country for our right to protest, free speech and drinking beer. I’m hoping that I’m not in jail tonight or the riot police beating me for eating hot dogs and drinking a Coke. That would be a cool picture though. HAHAHA!

This Saturday, April 12^th at Thee Parkside, THE GENERATORS will be gracing all of us with their presence. For nearly a decade these guys have put out a hand full of records, have toured all over the place and have no sign of stopping. Roger Moser with Under The Volcano Magazine says “The Generators always give you their classic signature melodic Punk Sound with a blistering swagger of Rock N Roll, as if Bad Religion and Social Distortion were split at birth”. Also, what would a show be without THE MIDNIGHT BOMBERS! These guys are a “Punk bomb” ready to be detonated at nights end. It’s always good seeing these and if you get to
close. . . BOOM! Also on the bill is The Final Solution.

I love early Sunday shows because I can go out, have drinks and still make it to work the next day without a hangover. I’m talking about Sunday, April 13^th at The Knockout we will have CRIMINAL DAMAGE (from Portland - members of Tragedy). They have a few records on Feral Ward Records and what I’ve heard so far is they are not as hard as Tragedy but, they will get down and tear it up. Also on the bill is NEEDLES (members of Limp Wrist / Talk is Poison / Look Back and Laugh), STIFF JEANS (Oakland) and YELLOW EYES ( x-members of Dead and Gone / MD 20/20 / Santorum). Also, the show is brought to you by once again Scott Alcoholocaust. The door opens at 5PM and the show starts at 5:30PM. Come early, leave late. HAHAHAHA!

MINISTRY/THE FAMILY CURSE/EARTLESS/PLAYLIST/TOP 10

I LOVE SPRING! Well, sort of. It’s nice here in San Francisco during the day and cold at night but, its perfect weather that I personally like. Anyway, hope all of you are doing well. I have a pretty cool next few days coming up. First, I’ll being seeing probably the last show in San Francisco for MINISTRY. Uncle Al said he’s hanging up the cowboy hat and focus more on producing and sitting behind the board making other bands as good as his bands. I’ve been a fan of Ministry since the late 80’s and all of Uncle Al’s side-projects on Wax Trax Records and of course LARD. I don’t think we’ll see another band or another musician like Al for a very long time. He’s a mad man scientist in the studio, has created some of the best music/bands (REVCO, 1000 HOMO DJ’S, ACID HORSE, etc. . ) and has always had control of his projects. I guess I could say he’s the Stanley Kubrick of Industrial music. He’s helped so many bands/musicians succeed in the creative department and seeing them take off into sometimes huge. I will miss Uncle Al and his antics and I hope one day someone will step up and continue what Al started over 20 years ago. Thanks Uncle Al for all the great music and the kick ass live shows throughout the years. CHEERS!

Unfortunately, I will miss a CD release party at Thee Parkside for a San Francisco band that reminds a little bit of Ministry and that’s why I like seeing them. That band is THE FAMILY CURSE. Sorry TFC but, have fun without me though. I’ll catch you next time.

Lastly, Saturday night at 12 Galaxies in the mission District will be one of the best shows to kick off spring time in San Francisco and it’s another Parkers Presents. The line-up is EARTHLESS (Cosmic Rock), HOT FOG (ROCK), CHEETAH SPEED (members of Zen Guerilla, Mensclub, Hammerdown Turpentine & Sonic Love Affair) and STIGMA 13 (Garage Punk RocknRoll). I like this line-up is great because all four bands are different in music and styles. Its going to be a mixture of Punks, Rockers and Old Timers and I think everyone is going too get along and who knows, maybe new friends and bands will come about by the end of the night. Come on out to 12 Galaxies and make sure to have a good fake I.D. because it’s 21 & over.

TRICLOPS CD RELEASE/ALCOHOLOCAUST PRESENTS AT THEE PARKSIDE/BLACK COBRA /PLAYLIST/TOP 10/PODCAST

I hope all of you that went to SXSW had fun, got your fill of bar b q, booze and music. This weekend for me is going to feel like a mini SXSW because of some cool shows going on here in San Francisco. This Good Friday, March 21^st will be the release party and show for TRICLOPS at Annie’s Social Club. TRICLOPS’ new album “Out Of Africa” will be out on Alternative Tentacles Records. The Bay Guardian calls TRICLOPS, “Mix Fleshies, Victim’s Family, Bottle & Skulls, shake and then stir, leaven punk fury with psyche tension, allow to rise. Rise to Rock and Roll DOMINATION, that is!” I think that says it all. Also on the bill is LOZEN (Tacoma), TURKS (SF) and comedians Alex Koll and Brent Weinbach in the backroom. Oh yeah, the show is brought to you by Alcoholocuast Presents!

Another Alcoholocuast Presents is happening about 2 miles away at Thee Parkside on the same night. DESPISE YOU, LACK OF INTEREST, VOETSEK, WARKRIME and SAY BOK GWAI! I don’t think I’m going to make it to Saturday after Friday night but as always, I’ll make it through somehow. The show is ALL Ages so bring your kids and your kids kid. HAHAHA!!!!

Hopefully I’ll have recovered from a massive THRASH ATTACK the night before to make it too see BLACK COBRA at The Hemlock Tavern Saturday, March 22^nd. No need to explain that two guys could make so much noise and have the capabilities to bring it all together at the end of the song. Here’s a quote from the Hemlock, “As far as classification of their sound, doom metal mixed with sludge and grind and a dash of stoner metal sums up Black Cobra's musical recipe." Also on the bill is SANTHAI (SF/Oakland), LUX NOVA UMBRA EST (ex-Man is the Bastard) and I haven’t had a chance too see neither of those bands. It’ll be nice to get turned on to some new bands and hopefully get some music from them to spin on the airwaves. The Hemlock Tavern is 21 & over so sorry minors (unless you have a good fake I.D.).

Hey everybody. Most of you are at SXSW enjoying drinks, music and bar b q. Y’all need to enjoy one more thing and that is FLATSTOCK! FLATSTOCK is thee only poster art road show in the country. FLATSTOCK usually has the best of the best poster artist in the world under one room. One of the best poster artist that is at SXSW, an Austin native and is at FLATSTOCK is none other than BILLY PERKINS. I met BP last summer at a poster show in Sacramento thrown by another kick ass artist, PAUL IMAGINE (which I’ll have on the show sometime in the near future). Right off the bat Billy & I had a lot in common. We’re both Texans, love music, bar b q and art. Well, he’s the artist and I just look at it and enjoy it. His style of art is funny, wicked, scary and very Texan. YEEHAA!! Anyway, when you see it for your self, you’ll know what I’m talking about. So Billy will be calling in the show as part of the GIGPOSTERS.COM series I’m doing just about every week. RED FANG/THE GRANNIES/TOP 10

Hey everybody! Hope all is well. Since last week I’ve been in a civil action against my old neighbor for some property of mine that he stole. Yesterday, it was all taken care of. In the old days I would’ve use revenge techniques or some other means to get my shit. Instead, I used the law (cops). I always thought I would’ve never of used the cops for anything until the other day. I had two things going for me. First was the element of surprise. Second, my old neighbor is a felon, stoner, gamer (=LOSER!) and I know he does not want Johnny Law to fuck his life up anymore than it is. Let me tell you one thing, the last seven days I had that feeling inside of me from my fight days back in high school. You know those feelings that float with you throughout the day and knowing after school you’re going to fight in front of half the school. The feeling of butterflies in your tummy and the stress of everyone asking you what you’re going to do in the fight. Also, the thoughts going through your mind like how you’re going to give him a right and then an upper-cut and then he’s out (but of course that never works). All those stupid feelings were going through my mind but, as soon as he saw the cops, he gave me back my MOOG. I’m hoping too never see him ever again. I feel so much better now but I feel weird at the same time. Its like I’m all grown up and using my head for once and not my Mexican macho crap that’s inside. Rob – 1 Bad Guys – 0. Oh yeah, I just added another enemy to my list. It just keeps growing and growing and growing. . .

Speaking of breaking the law. . . My good friends RED FANG from Portland, OR are back in town to ROCK US ALL NIGHT LONG (or at least they kick us out of the bar). RF rocks the way I like it: LOUD, LOOSE and LOUD! They’re coming through town on the way to SXSW in Austin, TX. I wish I can join them on that road trip but, they’ll have fun without me. HAHAHA!!! Anyway, they are playing this Friday, March 7^th at Annie’s Social Club (the old Covered Wagon) on 5^th & Folsom along with WALKEN (my bro’s), HIGHTOWER (SKATE METAL! I love these guys), Birthday Suits (from Minneapolis & Japan) and of course this is another great show brought to us by Alcholocaust Presents. So, come on out (21+), check out some great bands from out of town and some locals and make sure to KISS YOUR ASS GOODBYE! YEAH!!!

The following day I’ll be waking up late and drinking coffee in the afternoon for sure. Then, I’ll grab some lunch in The Haight and maybe see a few friends. After that, gotta get home and take a siesta before going to the wildest, craziest and funnest ROCK shows I’ll be attending at Thee Parkside this year. It’s another Wondertaker Records Showcase on Saturday, March 8^th. If you don’t know this label well, I’ll give you the short version. The label is home to some of the BEST PUNK ROCKNROLL bands on this Earth. The band that’s headlining are the GRANNIES! It’s a bunch of dudes dressed like old ladies with wheelchairs, canes, walkers, guitars, sticks and nasty grandma drunk smell but, they can shake, move and ROCK like twenty year olds. Also on the bill are the ROCK Terrorists themselves, Midnight Bombers. Come dressed like the Zodiac or the Unabomber and get a prize package from the band. Then its COBRETTI! COBRETTI is straight up PRNR and the more they drink, the harder and rowdier they get. The band has ex-members of MOTORHOME (damn good band as well). Then opening up the show is Grace Alley. I have no idea who they are but, if they’re invited on this bill that means they ROCK as well. Be sure NOT to wear your nice clothes because you’ll be smothered in beer, man sweat and stink from the grannie panties. So come on out and remember, I WARNED YOU!

Since the past seven days of stress and the police I had to deal with, I will not have a GIGPOSTER artist on the radio once again. Next week for sure, I promise.
