I think the apocalypse is coming soon to a theater near you and I. Hurricanes, floods, heat, war and no girlfriend (ooops, that's my apocalypse). Anyway, if the end is near, I'm all for it. Fuck it, I've had my fun. I'd rather go now so I can laugh at all the religions, rich folks and people that didn't give a crap in the first place about this planet. DEATH TO HUMANS!! HAHAHA!! Speaking of you humans. One of my favorite new bands has this in one of their songs, "They will erase the human race. Time to kiss your ass goodbye!" My sentiments exactly. The band is RED FANG out of Portland, Oregon. These guys know the meaning of ending the human race with ROCKNROLL. Wantage USA calls them "a crusty Bad Wizard. Also on the bill is the headliners and the band that will skate to the last second of the apocalypse, HIGHTOWER(Skate Metal from SF) and Orb Of Confusion (SF) at THEE PARKSIDE this Friday the 24th. Come out and enjoy the apocalypse with us.

On Saturday, the 25th THEE PARKSIDE is hosting a 40th bash. I'm talking about SLICK BASH #40! For number 40, Slick Rick is doing ROCKABILLY! Hey Hey! Hope your summer is going well. Mine is pretty good and busy. The radio show is great. San Francisco and the weather are great. Nothing but in the 60's here. Sorry to hear about the South and the Eastcoast getting record high temps. Ouch! Anyway, let me move on.

This Friday will be one epic show at THEE PARKSIDE here in the city. REAGAN YOUTH from NYC will be doing an early show (3PM) along with Mouth Sewn Shut, Doomsday Hour, Instant Asshole and Follow Blindly. It?s a John the Baker & Alcoholocaust Presents so you know its going to be good. Its $10 and all ages. That?s cheap! I work two blocks from the Parkside and get off at three so I won?t miss a thing.

The following day, MENDOZZA will be ripping up some METAL Canadian style for us crazy Americans! The band hails from Vancouver and will be having a CD release party as well at The Uptown Bar in Oak-town. Also on the bill is Saros and Scarecrow! So come out to Oakland, get your METAL on and have a few drinks with our friends to the North.

Last week on my radio show I had Rafa from BLACK COBRA on for a short interview. The guys are on tour so check them out and see if they?re coming to your town. They make a lot of good noise for two guys.

Anyway, we here in San Francisco feel privileged because GRINDERMAN is only doing shows here, New York City and Chicago. He'll be back soon because he just finished up the new Bad Seeds album and also finished a script for a now in production movie called "Death of a Ladies' Man". Damn, he's a busy guy. Have you seen the movie, "The Proposition"? Totally sick and bloody! Speaking of Australia, go by THEE PARKSIDE for a Slick Rick Presents: Slick 46 (Melbourne, Australia), The Departed, Broken Oars and Stash Black. I wonder if Slick 46 likes Nick Cave? Saturday night is a double shot of shows. First, I'll be at Terrorbird One Year Anniversary Blow Out // Daly City Records Triple Ds Record Release Party! The party is being thrown at The Minna Gallery here in San Francisco. It’s been a year already for the music marketing company that specializes in non-commercial, college, satellite, select commercial specialty, and internet radio promotion that prides itself on a handpicked, amazing roster. Check out TERRORBIRD for more info. The anniversary also adds a release party for Daly City Records. Come on out and meet some of the coolest people in the biz. It’s open to the public so you don't have an excuse not to come.

Right after that party, I'll be heading back to Thee Parkside (yes I'm there all the time) to check out one bad ass band, MIDNITE SNAKE. The Pittsburgh trio includes one of the most under-rated drummers of our time, Paul Quattrone of Modey Lemon and guitar-God to some, Alexei Plotnicov. Midnite Snake gives a "shock & awe" psychedelic metal attack that makes Jimi Hendrix feel uncomfortable. It’s a FREE SHOW!! YES, FREE!! Come out and witness a band that will make sure you won't leave empty handed.

MELVINS/POISON IDEA/ANTISSEN/PANTHERS/PLAYLIST/TOP 10

This weekend, you can say it'll be historic for all of us living here in San Francisco and the surrounding area. Some top notch bands will be performing this Friday and Saturday and I know a lot of you wish to be here for it. I'm talking about the MELVINS (performing Houdini/Eggnog & Lysol in its entirety), POISON IDEA and ANTISEEN. These three bands as we know it have shaped the way we listen & perform music today.

The MELVINS of course changed many of our lives (especially mine) and have inspired so many bands to play or just to be obsessed with them. Being around for way over 20 years, The MELVINS will perform these albums in its entirety and some songs haven't been heard live or played in years. Doing the three albums in its entirety will take some of us back to the days of finding out what music meant to us and how we still appreciate it now. Both shows are sold out but, still show up and hang out. Who knows? Maybe you could get in. Note: Dale from the MELVINS may call in my radio show so listen for it. Who knows what he'll say and you may miss out on it.

The Kings of Punk, POISON IDEA from Portland, OR is a band that you either hate ’em or love ‘em. They started waaay back in 1980 and disbanded in 1993. Also with the departure of Pig Champion, no one thought they would ever come back. Now, they are back with a new release coming out soon on TKO Records and playing the same night of the MELVINS “Houdini” show. That means right after Melvins, I'm riding my bike five minutes away to Thee Parkside and catch a glimpse of the Kings of Punk.

The following day, the Hillbilly, Redneck, Wrestling Punkers, ANTISEEN will enter the ring at Thee Parkside for a night of washboards, blood, wrestling and some damn good PUNK! ANTISEEN comes from the dark woods of South Carolina. They have been around for over 20 years. They have recorded with the likes of notorious madman GG Allin and legendary Alice Cooper guitarist Michael Bruce. So, I'm going to do the same thing right after the MELVINS show and that's haul ass to Thee 'Darkside.

OH! I also interviewed Geoff, the bass player for the PANTHERS last week. They are going on a huge U.S. Tour with Coliseum, Mono (Japan) and from Oakland, HIGH ON FIRE! Check out the interview here:
