RAZORCAKE 50TH/ALAN FORBES ART SHOW/PLAYLISTS/TOP 10

A hoy hoy! Sorry about no update last week. Work was tough and had some personal shit to take care of. I do want too say though CONGRATS to Razorcake's 50th issue! I remember going to the book store and seeing issue #1 and I was thinking that it reminded me of Flifpside a little bit. Lo and behold it was the ex-editor of Flipside, Todd Taylor. Him and his partner in crime Sean Carswell started Razorcake and now, they have a staff and Razorcake is a bi-monthly publication. CONGRATS RAZORCAKE for a great magazine and making every issue a gem. Hope too see you up here in San Francisco/Bay Area for another book tour (they also have a publishing company). I say when you're at a bookstore or wherever you grab you Barely Legal porn rag, look through Razorcake first and i guratee you'll love it and buy it (or steal it like you do anyway with BL. HA!). I can't wait for #100 in about 5 years (my math may be off a bit).

This Saturday, June 13th @Bender's in the Mission District of San Francisco, come check out what the very busy Alan Forbes has been up to. There will be some never before seen rarities available at the show. BLACK COBRA will be playing their final show before hitting the studio to record their first album for Southern Lord. This show also marks the return of the mighty ACID KING. This will be their first show in San Francisco in a few years. Come check them out before they leave for Europe! This show will be packed with the best art, the best music, and a lot more surprises… Bender's Bar, 806 S. Van ness, 21&Over.

Last weekend I stayed home and chilled. I had beer, pizza, tweeds and movies. It was nice. This weekend, I'm going out. Friday night is the return of THE CUTTHROATS 9 at Bender's. Of course we all know TC9 features Chris Spencer of Unsane, Will Carroll of Old Grandad and Tony Baumeister of 16. The band that's headlining is THIS RUNS ON BLOOD from AZ. I heard a couple of songs and they sound sick. Next Tuesday, June 2nd at The Knockout is SAVIOURS and it's FREE! YES, FREE!! Its part of the "HARD TIMES" Free Tuesdays double feature at The Knockout and Argus (next door dive bar). With the economy in the shitter, this is such a good idea and great fuckin bands playinf as well; SUICIDE BOMB (members of Born/Dead and Artimus Pyle) and POISON CONTROL (ex-U.S. Kings). MY BIRTHDAY PARTY TOMORROW AT THEE PARKSIDE!!! 40 YEARD OLD!!!

Yep, you read it right! I'm turning 40 years old tomorrow Thursday, May the 14th. I can not believe I made it this long but, I'm glad I'm around. If not, I wouldn't of met all of you too see your band, spin your band(s) on the airwaves, getting drunk at a bar in NYC with you, met you at a show, have you slept on my couch, or just being a friend. 40 doesn't feel old to me. 40 feels like experience. Julius Caesar even said "Experience is the teacher of all things." What's so great about his quote is that I've been training people at the station and at my job and I love doing that. I mean, I've been going to shows/concerts since 1980 (11 years old) and living this life is better than anything else that I could've been into. Its taken me all over the states, the world and I've made so many friends (like you) and this is the life that makes you live longer i think. Since my departure from San Antonio 10 years ago, I've been living here in the Bay Area and all of you have made my life better than ever. I believe I was put here for a reason and all of you have giving me a reason to stay here. So, I would love too see you at Thee Parkside! This is more than just turning 40, it's a celebration of all of us and just a little part of life you have crossed with me.

First, I'm having BLACK COBRA! A really kick ass Metal band from here. I still wonder how two guys could make all that cool noise. Then, WHO RIDES THE TIGER from Los Angeles. The kind of ROCK they play is something that many bands should take a lesson from. I'm glad they are playing. PSYCHOLOGY OF GENOCIDE is a SF Hardcore band that has members from the 80's SF Hardcore scene. The drummer Scott also has the same B-Day with me so its a double party for us. HA! The door is at 9PM, its $7 and if you can't make it, its most likely I'll see you at a show sometime or at a bar. Come on down, have a good time with me and bring in 40 years of my life in style at Thee Parkside, 1600 17th St. @Wisconsin in San Francisco. Even my friends are coming in from Texas and Washington. Next Thursday, May 14th will be my 40th B-Day party at Thee Parkside here in San Francisco. I got BLACK COBRA (SF), WHO RIDES THE TIGER (L.A.) and PSYCHOLOGY OF GENOCIDE (SF) to play. ALL OF YOU are invited and it will be so nice if you can make it. It's only seven bones and you'll be able to help me leave the thirties and enter the forties in style. This Saturday, May 9th at Annie's Social Club, Jello Biafra's new band will rock it along with Social Unrest, Ribzy, Fix My Head, The Excuse. The show is 21 & over and its only ten bucks. Jello's new band consists of Billy Gould (Faith No More), Ralph Spight (Victim's Family), Kimo Ball (Carney Ball Johnson) and Jon Weiss (Horsey / Sharkbait). Now that's a fuckin line-up! This will be that last time we'll see Billy Gould in a while before he takes off with some other band on tour (I forgot the band. HA!). The last time i saw Jello was at his 50th B-Day party and he looked like he was 20 years old again. I hope too see that Jello again and you there as well.

Don't forget I'm on the airwaves here in San Francisco & L.A. every Tuesday 4to6PM (PST) @ 87.9fm and Berlin, Germany 104.8. IIIIII'M BAAAAACK!!!!/BRUTAL TRUTH INTERVIEW/40th B-DAY BASH!

That's right! For a month i've been on vacation and it was the greatest time. My friends (and new) took care of this TexMex vato in Milano, Italy and I want to thank them very very much. So now, I have a lot to catch up on and I already have a interview lined up. Tomorrow, April 28th at 4PM (PST) i will have Rich Hoak of BRUTAL TRUTH on my radio show at Pirate Cat Radio 87.9FM San Francisco, L.A., 104.8 in Berlin, Germany and of course streaming online at WWW.PIRATECATRADIO.COM. TEXAS/ITALY/BLACK COBRA/NO RADIO SHOW/PLAYLIST/TOP 10

After a year and a half, I'm finally going back to my hometown of San Antonio, Texas on Tuesday, March 10th and I'm missing SXSW (Oh well, maybe next year). I'm going too see my family, do some fishing at the coast, bar b q, see some friends and visit some graves. It'll be good to get away. So, I am not doing both of my radio shows until Thursday, March 19th. Then, I leave to Italy on Friday, March 27th and i can't wait for that to happen. YEAH!!!

Before I go back to Texas, I'm seeing one more band, BLACK COBRA! BC just signed with Southern Lord Records and they deserve a great fuckin label like that. They've been putting out great metal for the past couple of years, touring like maniacs and they are one of the hardest working bands out right now. BC is even playing my 40th B-Day Party on May 14th (see attachment). Anyway, along with BC on the bill at Annie's Social Club will be Eternal Elysium, Dusted Angel & Damnweevil. Its an early Sunday show at 5PM so, come on out and see some great Metal!
