KSCU MOVING!! / NO RADIO SHOW UNTIL APRIL 8th! / SXSW 2010, TX

Yep, you read correctly. KSCU has been in the same basement since the late 1960's (I think) and and as of right now, will be moving to another building. The building is Benson Hall and it's full of students roaming around. They'll be able to notice the station a lot better and see us DJ's in action. Oh yeah, the students will be able too see us through a huge piece of glass and i can't wait for that. I'll probably get kicked out after a couple of shows but hey, it'll be worth it. HA! JK! Anyway, the station will be still broadcasting but just comps. Us DJ's won't be back on the airwaves until the end or beginning of April. I, on the other hand won't be back on the air until Thursday, April 8th. I'll still be charting to CMJ for adds and the recent TOP 10 that i have now will stay like that until we get the DJ's back on the air. Keep sending music like always and it will get back on the airwaves as soon as we're on. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to write back.

Onto more better news. I'll be at SXSW next Tuesday through Sunday. Please please start sending me your showcases, times, places, private parties RSVP's and your phone number. By the way, I got an iPhone and a new number so i'll give you that as well. I want too see a lot of you, have a drink (or five) and hear some great bands. I'll be putting up of what i'll be doing on Facebook & Twitter so, follow me and add me to the links below.

I hope too see and hang out with a lot of you in Austin. Keep sending me music and just like our governor says, "I'll be back!" Be cool, have a nice weekend and take care. Au revoir!! Naked Rob, San Francisco

Legendary death metal vocalist Chris Barnes, along with guitarist Steve Swanson, bass legend Terry Butler, and drummer Greg Gall, continue to follow the dark and demented path that merges what OUTBURN Magazine calls “tried and true death groove” with stomach-turning lyrics and themes. This time, they cover likes of; Mercyful Fate, Metallica, Slayer, Van Halen, Exciter, Twisted Sister, Prong and my favorite, The Ramones. Graveyard Classics 3 was recorded at D.O.I. Digital Audio in Tampa, FL, was mixed at Audiohammer Studios by Mark Lewis, and was produced by Chris Barnes. Check it, Rock out and Stomp It! HA!

IHSAHN “After”

PROGGRESSIVE METAL

MR-At the ripe age of 17, he helped to write and record the groundbreaking self-titled EP with Emperor, a band in which he was the undisputed leader of composition and direction. He later added to the avant-garde style with the family act Peccatum, featuring the nightingale vocals of his wife. However, after years of genre-defining and expanding, the man known as Ihsahn surprisingly reined it in for his solo career. The Adversary was basically a toned-down version of later Emperor mixed with the classic metal sounds of bands like Mercyful Fate. A quality album, but eclipsed by 2008’s AngL, which found the man very comfortable in his new shoes leading a solo act. But even that album’s display of blackened prog virtuosity felt rather comfortable, as if Ihsahn’s days of widening extreme metal’s horizons were behind him. This is Ihsahn’s most experimental and forward-thinking work since the demise of Peccatum, and easily the most individualistic work of his entire career. From the shifting dynamics and unorthodox song structures to the holistic vision and prominent use of saxophone (that’s right, saxophone), After unveils a brave new Mr. Tveitan, one who has rediscovered his genius and reignited the creative flame under his arse. Some will choose to place the same criticisms here that have been given to Ihsahn’s past solo work. Those who have had issues with his harsh vocal style will likely still have them. The bass, while higher in the mix than in the past, is still less than prominent (and the only complaint about a very stellar mixing job). But these issues are inconsequential to Ihsahn’s resounding success in achieving his vision, while simultaneously taking his solo career to brilliant new levels. It is yet another masterful achievement from a man who has made a career out of them.

Candlelight Records/Heavy Hitters

-----------------------
A-FRAMES/CLIMAX GOLDEN TWINS “AFCGT”

NOISE ROCK

For fans of: Wolf Eyes, Coachwhips, The Hospitals.
